Bridging the Gaps
Bridging the gap in our industry means moving past the days where insurance companies dictate the quality of a repair based on their bottom line rather than the manufacturer's safety standards.
The fight for the Right to Safe Repairs is a demand for legislative transparency that guarantees every technician has the data, parts, and professional authority to restore a vehicle to its original structural integrity.
By uniting the trade, we are closing the distance between stagnant, outdated labor rates and the high-tech reality of a modern Red Seal profession, ensuring that our 7,600+ hours of expertise translate into uncompromised safety for every family on the road.
Bridging the Trade Pay Gap is about ending the systemic undervaluation of the auto body profession in Ontario. Despite requiring over 7,600 hours of high-tech training and carries immense structural liability, collision technicians are often capped at labor rates that haven't kept pace with inflation or the complexity of modern vehicles.
Our fight for the 'Right to Safe Repairs' is inseparable from this gap; we cannot guarantee the safety of the motoring public if the industry continues to squeeze the livelihoods of the experts performing the work.
We are calling for a standardized provincial labor rate that reflects our Red Seal status—ensuring that a technician’s paycheck finally matches the life-saving precision of their craft."
"A technician without a watchdog, is a technician under pressure. We take the pressure off the shop floor so the focus stay on the safety of the vehicle."
